What do we eat?

  • Accepting food items

The teacher will elaborate an "aliment pyramid" with drawings or pictures of food items cut from magazines or brochures. There will be seven different sections; the teacher will follow this scheme:

Section 1: Milk and articles derived from it
Section 2: Meat, fish, eggs
Section 3: Roots, nuts and food items like lentils, chickpeas...
Section 4: Vegetables
Section 5: Fruits
Section 6: Cereals, sugar and drinks
Section 7: Oils

When the pyramid is finished the teacher will ask he children about the food items they can see on it:

  • What are their names?
  • When do they eat them?
  • Do they like them?
  • What is your favourite one?
  • What is the one you like the least?

The teacher will print one copy for each child from the supplementary material (click to open).

Now the children have to draw on the tray an adequate menu for each one of the meals of the day; they must try to include food items from the different sections.

P.S.: The teacher will give the youngest children pictures or drawings of food items to glue them on the tray.
