Rules
5 Categories are established:
A. DRAWING: Up to six
years old.
State in a piece of paper or cardboard, using any means you choose
(color pencils, crayons, paint) what is peace for you.
B. POSTER AND SLOGAN:
For children 7 to 12 years old. What do you do to defend peace?
Help the United Nations to create a world in which we can live together
and in peace. Portray your ideas in a poster with a catchy slogan.
You can use any technique or materials you prefer.
C. MURAL: From 13 to
16 years old.
If we all agree on the need to live together and in peace, why is
it so hard to do so? Show in a mural the vision of a world in which
it is possible to live together in peace. If you want, you can make
a collage.
D. PHOTOGRAPHY:16 to
18 years old.
Become a reporter that uses a camera to take pictures of the things
that can help us to live together in peace. If you do not have a camera,
you can submit images that you find in magazines or newspapers.
E. MESSAGE: For all
categories and groups
Send a letter or email to the Peace and Cooperation Foundation to
the attention of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban
Ki-moon, proposing how to achieve world peace and what school children
can do to achieve it. Try to do it in English (because it is the working
language of the U.N.) or in Spanish. The Peace and Cooperation Foundation
will forward your messages.
F. TEACHERS: Multimedia
Format (video).
Teachers are invited to celebrate the International Day of Peace (September
21, 2009) in their school and send us a video of the celebration.
Teachers can also send a video, this
can either be from recently or created earlier, that reflects the
different activities which can make up an educational proposal that
develops in time or in its key moments, and with one or more components
that are part of the “Education of peace and living together.”
They can be:
Corners: create specific corners or adapt those that alereadi exist
in your classroom.
Class Assembly
Define a specific work project. Use the specific methodology of
this approach in your classroom.
Classroom workshops.
Expression and representation techniques such as surveys and interviews,
picture reading, case studies, role plays, simulation games, values
clarification, conflict analysis and resolution, group dynamics,
stereotype and prejudice analysis, comedian, drama, comics, news,
photo stories etc.
Presentation and information games, cooperation, trust, self-esteem,
conflict resolution, communication, relaxation games.
Celebrations of key days and weeks.
Solidarity Campaigns.
Field trips to exhibits and places of interest.
Exchanges and partnerships between schools.
Letter exchanges.
Open school days.
Round tables, discussions, talks, video forums.
Exhibitions and shows.
Edition of monographic magazines, newspapers or murals.
Classroom libraries.
Others.
The videos selected will be published in the on-line Educational
Television of the World Association of Early Childhood Educators
(AMEI-WAECE) so they can be seen as examples for other educators
around the world. (see this link: http://www.waece.org/TV/index.php).
Note: Since the celebration of
the International Day of Peace is September 21st and works should
be submitted before July 1st, before the celebration, you can submit
videos of activities you have already done with your children.
Languages: Entries
may be presented in any of the UN 6 official languages: Arabic, Chinese,
English, French, Russian and Spanish.
Deadline: Works may
be sent before July the 1st 2009 to the headquarters of Peace and
Cooperation in Madrid by post or e-mail.
The entries must clearly state:
the participant's full name, date of birth, address and telephone
number as well as their school's name, address, telephone number and,
if available, e-mail address.
All entries will be the property of
Peace and Cooperation.
Jury
It will gather on September 21,
2009, International Day of Peace, at the Egyptian Institute..
Prizes
Four diplomas in each category.
Five prizes of 300 Euros.
Two airline tickets donated by Airline Ambassadors.
