Development of the activity

The teacher asks the parents to bring to the classroom a shoe that has become small for their child, it is even advisable that it is a baby shoe, commenting with them on the work we are going to do with them. The shoes are placed in the center of circle and the children compare the size of their current shoes with those they have brought.

This allows to talk about growth and the learning that they have carried out until the current moment and what they still have to achieve until they wear shoes as large as dad's and mom's.

The different sizes of the shoes are a symbolic index of growth and development, apart from a sign of identity.

The educator tells the children that they will decorate the shoe in such a way that they can keep it forever and remember when they were small.

He prepares a big table or the tables of the class, covering them with newsprint and each child covers his shoe with a layer of white glue in the inside and on the outside. We let them dry for some days on the wax paper. When the shoes are very dry, the teacher, sprays them with silver or gold paint, as each child prefers.

They let the shoes to dry off and each child takes his shoe home.
